My name is Tamir Slobodskoy. I am an undergraduate student at Bournemouth University currently working my way towards the Forensic Computing & Security degree. I have started coding from a very little age, and since then have gained experience with Web Dev, including HTML, CSS, JS, PHP and actively using jQuery and Bootstrap within my websites. I have also studied Python during A-Level and explored many classes such as Tkinter (GUI) whilst maintaing performance and good standard.
Additionally, I have learnt developing Android apps, using Java and XML, and have had several projects to develop up until 2017. As 2020 arrived, I have started developing for iOS as well, hoping to develop a cross-device service to be used by 100+ users. I am very enthusiastic about creating my own platforms / services. I own several Raspberry Pi to support testing and experimenting new frameworks and applications.
It is my passion to help other students and people to understand coding better and this manifests itself by a Student Rep role I have taken within the Students Union of my university. I love helping people with programming and I am always looking for a job to make things matter and change the way people use a service whilst meeting user requirements. I am already excited to work with you, should you choose me to be the right person for your job!
Tamir Slo Dev is the very website you are currently visiting. Development begun during March 2020 as Tamir Slobodskoy received the brand new .dev domain. Efforts were made to take initiative and create a completely redesigned portfolio and practice website development even further.
YoniDev is another portfolio I have been working on, assisting with any design / UX related questions. It is representing Yonatan Slobodskoy's Portfolio and its design is based on the Bootstrap framework. In addition, I have also supplied the Contact Form technologies and Mailing Server infrastructure with high level validation and security.
Live Rota Panel is a web-based rota management system with role based user authentication. Managers may edit the rota and publish it (to allow the creation of draft rotas), and Staff may view their rota and receive email notifications for newly published rotas.
The system was initially developed as a private solution to a business; however, due to several issues with the business, the system is now available as SaaS.
Dots and Boxes is an Android application written using Kotlin on the Android Studio IDE. It was built within a single week and in collaboration with Yonatan Slobodskoy. The app was also published in the Google Play Store so you can install it today and check its functionality!
This game includes many features like playing against your friends or against the computer with our unique algorithm developed! You can even choose one of our many grid size options, varying from 3x3 to 6x6. This was developed as part of a university course assignment and in order to learn how to interact with Android Studio and Kotlin.
During May 2020, I have participated in a CodeJam that was held virtually by Bournemouth Digital in collaboration with Bournemouth University. This event was designated for Bournemouth University students to get practical experience at coding and working with a team under pressure. We were given a "Challange" that asked us to create a website that utilises a public API, of any kind, and awards were given for certain categories.
My team and I have decided to create a website that would guess your gender, age and location based on your first name only. We were given 24 hours to do so, and we have taken use of discord's voice channel abilities to communicate with each other. In order to release a satisfactory product, we used Bootstrap for mobile responsive design and jQuery for asynchronous HTTP requests. We used 3 APIs in our website, Genderize.io, Agify.io and Nationalize.io to get the required data about the user.
At the end of the event, My team and I have won the award for "Best Collaboration" and an additional mention for the "Hidden Pug Award" (try and find it yourself!). Lastly, I have also won a mention of the "Chattiest Jammer" as I spent 6 hours 32 minutes of Voice and sent 80 messages total on Discord.
Whilst studying at Bournemouth University, during my first year I was given an assignment to develop a frontend and a backend for a "User Management Panel". THis included using HTML, CSS and JS. I have chosen to also add jQuery base and UI libraries to my project to make smoother transitions and for a better UX.
Whilst some students were advised to create their frontend application first, whilst testing with a fake api, I had enough experience in the field to create the front end in such a way that would work with the backend. I have created my own API documentation, trying to make it as RESTful as possible, whilst maintaining good code quality and professional approach.
It only took me a week to produce a final result that satisfied the given requirements whilst exceeding the university's expectations. At the end of development I have also intergrated the Flask web server to work with my current Apache configuration so anyone can see a demo.
Whilst studying at Bournemouth University, during my second year I have been invloved in a group project to create a business plan and develop a prototype app. my group and I have chosen to use React Native for development with the integration of Expo for easier building and because of its cross platform support to Android and iPhone together.
I was chosen to be part of the development team, including three other students. We have used GitHub to collaborate on this project and held weekly meetings to check progress and ensure deadlines are met. For the backend of the app, we have used Google Firebase's three services: Authentication, Firestore and Real Time Database.
I have found myself developing new features and facing challenges I haven't faced before. These include creating a real time private & group chats, sending notifications using Expo's Notification Service and ensuring the app is compliant with GDPR. Later in the development phase, we understood that Expo cannot send notifications using their service outside of the Expo Go app. Due to time limits, we could not finish implementing Firebase Cloud Messaging to support notifications in App Store builds.
Finally, we have deployed the app on Google Play, tested its functionailty and rolled it out for public use. The source code is public and can be seen on GitHub.
